  • ABOUT US | Oprah

Who are we? We are a group of students from the University of Washington who wants to help disadvantaged students as UW. Our inspiration We hope to use information technology to give parents of low income and poor families the tools to empower their children to break the cycle of generational poverty. This is why we chose to name the project “Project Oprah” after Oprah Winfrey. Oprah is probably the most well-known rags to riches story. The talk show host went from a poor, single mother, at the age of 14, to an enormously successful media mogul. Our Mission Provide a safe anonymous space for anyone who might be at a financial disadvantage. Our solution will focus on the needs of low-income students enrolled in higher education, giving them direct and anonymous access to anything they might need. Oprah@uw.edu Seattle, WA

  • Financial Aids | Oprah

Financial Aids Finances should not be a barrier to getting an education. Whether you attend our Seattle, Tacoma, or Bothell campuses, you’re in the right place to explore the many grants and loans available that help makes paying for college as affordable as possible *The star next to the name indicates the best fit for you. The Husky Promise The Husky Promise guarantees full tuition and standard fees will be covered by grant or scholarship support for eligible Washington state students. You will not have to pay back these grants and scholarships. You can also be assured that if tuition increases, the financial aid you receive will increase as well. View More Application Process University of Washington students use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for financial aid. The FAFSA should be received at the federal processor by January 15 for priority consideration for our aid programs for the upcoming school year. View More Transfer students All transfer students are considered for the same types and amounts of aid as other UW students as long as their aid application is received by the UW before January 15th. View More Student budgets Your student budget is the amount of money we estimate you will need for tuition, books, and living expenses for the 9-month academic year (October-June). Student budgets include only your educational costs; other family members’ expenses cannot be included in the budget. View More Fee-based programs The University offers both state supported and fee-based degree programs. Students who are enrolled in most fee-based programs will use a different process to register for classes and pay for their courses than students in state supported programs.
